Community Child Care in Mt Eden

Fostering and empowering children’s holistic learning and development

CENTRE PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

Our centre programme aims to foster and empower children within an environment that values whanaungatanga/relationships. Nurturing skills of independence, autonomy, resilience and promoting social and emotional development.

Emphasis is placed on extending and exploring a negotiated emergent curriculum that is personally meaningful, socially relevant, and intellectually engaging to children. We are committed to maintaining and developing an aesthetically appealing, safe environment that provokes children's innate curiosity.

Indicators

Our approach is underpinned by the principles and strands of Te Whariki, whereby children contribute powerfully in collaboration with whãnau and educators as a community of learners.

Inspired by Magda Gerber's Principles and Schema Learning Theory, and guided by He Mapuna te Tamaiti

We strive daily to do the work for the betterment of the people.

TANIA SWANN

Centre Manager

"I am committed in providing a learning atmosphere where children are advocated for in a safe, fun, active environment where they can grow and develop the skills in readiness for lifelong learning."

LOUNA ITI

Centre Supervisor

"I believe nurturing a culture of love, respect, empowerment and lifelong learning is paramount to our philosophy.   I see parents as a child’s first teacher so working in collaboration with families means providing our children with the best possible start to their education. "
